FAQs

What is golf club fitting?

Golf club fitting is a process that leverages technology and a club fitter’s expertise to align each golfer’s unique swing metrics with the proper equipment. These metrics include shaft length, loft, lie, swing speed, ball speed, smash factor, swing weight and more.  Several factors are considered when fitting golf clubs including height, grip, angle of attack and other elements.

Do you conduct indoor/outdoor fittings?

Yes, we do! There are advantages for each type of fitting. Our indoor studio guarantees your appointment won’t be impacted by weather, and you will have access to our full fitting matrix. Indoor fittings also enable us to make frequent adjustments to loft and lie of each demo club during the fitting process. Outdoor fittings enable the player to hit shots on real turf and see the actual ball flight from each shot. We are limited to the type and frequency of these adjustments outdoors. Outdoor fittings require each customer to obtain permission from the outdoor venue prior to confirming an outdoor appointment.

Am I good enough for a fitting?

YES!!! We welcome players of all abilities from beginners to professionals. We make fitting fun and approachable while encouraging your questions. We’ve found the higher the handicap, the quicker on course improvements are realized.

I’m worried my swing is too inconsistent for a fitting?

You’re not alone. Rest assured, we can help. Each fitting includes a substantial swing sample with each club/shaft combination. Our fitting methodology enables us to identify tendencies, recommend adjustments to equipment that will maximize each player’s ability to replicate solid strikes.

What do I need to bring for my fitting?

Please bring your current set of clubs, glove(s), sneakers or golf shoes and comfortable/golf clothing to swing in.

Can I split my full bag fitting into two sessions?

Yes. We recommend splitting a full bag fitting into two sessions. The full bag fitting takes approximately 3.5 hours and typically consists of 150+ full swings, which can be tiring for even the most physically fit golfers.

Am I required to purchase clubs from Stripe Show?

No. We provide a comprehensive summary upon completion of each fitting. When investing in golf equipment, we understand each consumer behaves differently. When purchasing clubs on sites like eBay, please be very cautious of fakes and knock-offs.

How is Stripe Show different from big box stores and national fitting chains?

Facility - Our private, by appointment only facility guarantees each customer maintains 100% of our attention from the moment you walk in the door and throughout the duration of the fitting process. We don’t have a store front; therefore, we won’t have to worry about anyone walking in off the street with inquiries that take us away from you.

Technology - Unlike any other fitting studio in Dallas, we use Foresight Sports GCQuad launch monitors which measure ball and club head data. Additionally, we are the ONLY club fitter in Texas who uses the Quintic Ball Roll System. QBR not only measures putter head data but also measures ball roll data without any bulky attachments connected to the putter shaft that throw off the weight of the club. After all, your custom fit putter isn’t going to have a 40 gram attachment on the shaft while on the golf course!

Club Building - All equipment purchased from Stripe Show will be 100% authentic, ordered directly from the OEM at the time of purchase and built on-site by your club fitter. This leaves zero room for ambiguity or communication lapses when building your clubs. When you take possession of your new clubs, it will feel just as if they came straight from the tour truck!

Demo Equipment - Our comprehensive fitting matrix provides our customers with over 30,000 club/shaft combinations from all major manufacturers. We utilize the only USGA approved universal adapters which make the weight of the demo equipment as close to identical as the OEM equipment you purchase. Unlike demo days, we can compare equipment from competing manufacturers apples to apples without brand bias while maintaining the ability to adjust loft, lie, length and swing weight during each fitting.

What peace of mind do you offer when purchasing equipment?

We are GLAD you asked! Stripe Show Club Fitters number one goal is customer satisfaction and performance improvement. We establish lifelong relationships with our customers and would love getting out on the golf course with our customers!!! In addition to the manufacturer’s warranty against defects, we ensure your on-course results will align with those achieved in our fitting bay. If that’s not the case, we offer complimentary appointments to fix or replace the equipment.

What forms of payment do you accept?

We accept cash, credit card, Venmo, Cash App and PayPal.

Terminology

Club Head Speed

The speed at which the club head is traveling at the moment of impact. This measurement is the best predictor of the distance a ball will travel. Every 1 mph of club head speed equates to approximately 2-3 yards of distance.

Club Path

The lateral angle, relative to the target line, that the club head is traveling at impact. A positive club path number indicates an inside-out swing. A negative club path number means the club is moving outside-to-inside at impact.

Launch Angle

Launch angle is the angle, as measured from ground level, that the ball launches at impact. In order to achieve ball flight, which is optimized, the preferred launch angle for a shot is dependent on the static loft of the club, combined with the golfer’s club head speed and typical attack angle.

Ball Speed

Ball speed is a pretty simple term. It is the speed at which the ball is traveling when it leaves the club face. Ball speed is the primary indicator for the distance the ball travels with launch angle and spin rate being close secondary factors.

Face Angle

Face angle is the orientation of the club face at impact relative to the target line. If the figure is positive for a right-handed golfer, then the face is open relative to the target line. If the figure is negative, then the face is closed relative to the target line.

Spin Axis

Spin axis - the measurement of the tilt/rotation of the ball due to impact with the club. Negative Axis denotes a ball that will curve with “draw.” Positive Axis denotes a ball that will curve with “fade.” Spin Axis of the ball is due to the face-to-path differential, and strike point on the face.

Angle of Attack

The vertical angle the club is traveling relative to the ground at impact. A negative angle of attack is desirable for irons, A + attack angle means the club is striking upwards into impact, which is usually desirable with the Driver.

Face to Path

A measure of where the club face is at impact relative to the swing path. If the figure is positive for a right-handed golfer, then the face is open relative to the path. If the figure is negative, then the face is closed relative to the path.

Smash Factor

Ball speed divided by club speed.  Smash Factor relates to the amount of energy transferred from the club head to the golf ball. The higher the smash factor the better the energy transfer. A golfer would hope to achieve a smash factor near 1.50 on driver shots.
